Indoor Materials Scene

Forgot to post this, this was for a Materials and Lighting class. We just had to take objects we had already made for other classes, put them in a room and using just MentalRay mia_material_x material give it different material properties.

As always, critiques and comments welcomed.

  1. Cool man. Looks good. I really like the blur you put on it. A few things that bug me though, the metal plate on your shield looks like it is in the foreground instead of the background. Also the sculpture compared to windows look as if a person was standing beside it, then the sculpture would come up to about the height of your waist. But other than that the render looks good and the lighting looks really nice.

  2. You are definitely showing that you know how to use advanced lighting features. The pedestal and floor in particular look realistic.
I too have some concerns about scale. The the sword in particular looks out of scale with the floor molding. Makes sword look huge. The wood grain texture on the shield may be a bit large

Also, since the bust is presumably the fcous, it might be nice to have the light hitting it directly playing across the contours of its face. As is, the composition has the background items vying for attention.

There is chance for a real photorealistic image here if you spend more time on it and straighten out the relative sizes. It's always a good idea to measure things such as your tiles and your floor baseboard. These are usually very consistent from one place to another and thus form key visual cues. (sorry, the instructor in me never sleeps) ;]
